William O’Regan began his journey with Students for Haiti when Matthew Watters approached him with a project to create a collective group of students to aid the poverty-stricken country of Haiti. His knowledge of the small island nation, Haiti, was limited at the onset but the more he learned the more he wanted to bring greater awareness to the plight of the Haitian people.William assisted with the basic ground work of starting the first Students for Haiti group at the University of Delaware. When the earthquake of 2010 devastated Haiti, William helped fundraise and organize events on campus. By his senior year, he was the Public Relations Director for the student group and attracted a myriad of student organizations to the actions and fundraisers of the group. In the years ahead, William hopes to continue raising awareness of the problems Haiti faces but also the beauties that the country holds.
