Group's Milestones and Achievements
Haiti's education has low financial support, with high repetition and drop-out rates and low enrollment rates. Linguistic barriers play a massive role in Haitian students' lives. Ann Prepare Lavni (APL) is a student organization which seeks to improve the economy and lives of those in Anse-a-Pitres and Banane, Haiti. We want to cultivate academic excellence through immersive, interdisciplinary education and research in partnership with the community we serve; also to discover and disseminate knowledge to advance education. This is being accomplished by the institution of a free, high quality, multilingual education program for students unable to afford the high costs of private schools. In addition, teachers are being trained in the latest multilingual teaching methods, which will allow for permanent improvement in the region. With enough time and resources, we hope that the schools in Anse-a-Pitres and Banane become a model for additional schools in Haiti. This organization does not only provide much needed aid to Haiti, but also gives college students firsthand experience in volunteer work, organization, leadership, and curriculum development, as well as promotes educational awareness about Haiti through events, speakers, and workshops. APL is one of the most promising Poverty Alleviation program and long term human and community developing strategy in Anse-a-Pitres and Banane, Haiti. In order to reach more children, we need YOUR help! With small donations of school supplies such as notebooks, pencils, pens, erasers, scissors, etc., and every day necessities such as socks, tooth brushes, shampoo, soap, vitamins, etc., you could make a world of a difference to each child. Any donations (new or used) are accepted. (Disclaimer: This project was inspired and organized by college students.)
